Are you Gas Safe registered?

How long have you been trading?

Richard has over 15 years of experience in the gas engineering industry and set up RJL Gas Services Ltd during the Covid period. He personally attends every job, working alongside his apprentice Jack, so you are always dealing with the owner.

Do you offer free quotes?

Yes. We provide free, no-obligation quotes for installations and larger jobs. Call us on 07502 487704 or use our online quote form and we will get back to you with a clear, honest price.

What are your opening hours?

We are open Monday to Thursday 08:00 to 19:00, Friday 08:00 to 18:00, and Saturday 08:00 to 12:00. We are closed on Sundays. Get in touch during these hours and we will do our best to help.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept card payments, bank transfers and cash, usually taken on completion of the work. For larger installation projects we are happy to talk through the options with you.

How long will it take?

Most boiler installations take one to three days depending on the size and complexity of the job. We will give you a clear timescale as part of your quote so you can plan around the work.

How much does a new boiler cost?

A new boiler supplied and fitted typically costs between £1,800 and £5,000, depending on the boiler you choose and the work involved. We survey your system first and give you a clear, fixed price with no surprises.

Do you remove the old boiler?

Yes. Removing and disposing of your old boiler is included as part of the installation. We handle everything from disconnecting the old unit to leaving the area clean and tidy.

Do the new boilers come with a warranty?

Yes. New boilers we install come with a manufacturer-backed warranty, and we register it on your behalf. We will explain the exact terms and length of cover before you go ahead.

Which boiler brands do you fit?

We fit all the major boiler brands and will recommend the best option for your home, your heating needs and your budget. We are happy to talk you through the choices in plain English.

How often should I get my boiler serviced?

Every 12 months. An annual service keeps your boiler safe and efficient, helps prevent breakdowns, and keeps most manufacturer warranties valid. Autumn is a popular time to book, ready for winter.

How much is a boiler service?

A boiler service costs between £80 and £150 depending on the make and model. It includes a full safety check, cleaning and testing, and we confirm the exact price when you book.

What does a service include?

We check all the safety-critical components, clean the boiler, test the emissions, and make sure the controls and pressure are set correctly. You get honest feedback on the condition of your boiler and any advice you need.

Will a service keep my warranty valid?

In most cases yes. Manufacturers usually require an annual service by a Gas Safe registered engineer to keep the warranty valid. We carry out the service properly and can provide a record for your warranty.

Do you charge a call out fee?

No. There is no call out fee, so you are not paying just for us to turn up. We diagnose the fault and give you a clear price before any repair work starts.

How much do repairs cost?

Most boiler repairs fall between £80 and £500 depending on the fault and any parts needed. We always explain what is wrong and agree the price with you before carrying out the work.

Can you fix it the same day?

Often, yes. We carry common spare parts so many faults can be sorted on the first visit. If a manufacturer-specific part needs ordering, we will let you know straight away and get it done as quickly as we can.

What if my boiler is not worth repairing?

If we find that a repair no longer makes sense on an older or unreliable boiler, we will tell you honestly and talk through your options rather than patching it up. You always get straight, no-pressure advice.

What does this cover?

A landlord gas safety certificate (CP12) covers all the gas appliances in the property, including boilers, gas fires and cookers. We check each one is safe and correctly ventilated and issue your certificate on the visit.

How much is a landlord gas safety certificate?

Landlord gas safety certificates cost between £60 and £100 depending on the number of gas appliances in the property. We confirm the price when you book.

Is a gas safety check a legal requirement?

Yes. If you rent out a property, an annual gas safety check on all gas appliances is a legal requirement. It keeps your tenants safe and keeps you compliant with the law.

Can you remind me when it is due?

Yes. We can remind you when your next annual check is due, so you are never caught out and your properties stay compliant year after year.

How much is this?

A legionella risk assessment is a fixed price of £80. You get a clear written report setting out any actions needed to keep your water system safe.

Do landlords need a legionella assessment?

Landlords have a legal duty to assess and control the risk of legionella in their rental properties. For most homes it is a straightforward check, and we make it simple and affordable.

What does the assessment involve?

We inspect your water system for the conditions that let legionella bacteria grow, such as stagnant water, unused outlets and incorrect storage temperatures, then give you a clear report with any recommended actions.

Can you do it at the same time as my gas check?

Yes. Pairing your legionella assessment with your annual landlord gas safety check keeps everything to one visit and one date in the diary, making compliance easy to stay on top of.

Do you do bathrooms?

Yes, alongside other trusted local trades. For larger projects like full bathrooms we work with trades we have known for years, so the whole job is coordinated properly and finished to a high standard.

What plumbing jobs do you take on?

We handle everything from leaks, taps and radiators up to larger projects. Whatever the size, you get a clear price up front and the same honest, tidy approach.

How much does plumbing work cost?

General plumbing ranges from around £60 for small jobs up to several thousand pounds for larger projects such as bathrooms. We always give you a clear price before we start.

Do you handle small jobs too?

Absolutely. No job is too small. Whether it is a dripping tap or a leaking valve, we are happy to help and will treat your home with the same care as a big project.
